KI-Campus - Germany

The AI Campus is an R&D project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

Together with local universities and companies, online and blended formats are being developed that focus on regional topics such as “AI and Entrepreneurship”, “AI in Industry 4.0” and “AI in Medicine”.The hub is part of an overarching AI ecosystem that is currently being established in Heilbronn with the Innovation Park for Artificial Intelligence (Ipai).

Partners involved in the educational and knowledge transfer activities of the AI Campus in Heilbronn include the Technical University of Munich (TUM), the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW), Heilbronn University and the Fraunhofer IAO’s research and innovation centre KODIS.

BucovIA project - Spain

This project proposes the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a tool to detect early cases of psychological problems due to bullying and Covid-19 in the classroom.

The idea is to create an artificial intelligence tool that, through non-sensitive student data, can find connections between the different input data and detect with a high probability possible cases of psychological problems, as well as identify the person as a possible bully, harasser or observer in case of signs of bullying. It is important to emphasize that this is a support tool for teachers, in no case is it a tool to make definitive decisions, as these are the responsibility of educational and psychological professionals.

BRAINYOO - Germany

BRAINYOO is a mobile learning platform and offers learning and teaching support on the web and via apps, regardless of time and place, based on microlearning content.

Whether you are learning for school, study, training or higher education: BRAINYOO is an educational toolbox for teachers to support digital teaching and for students a support for goal-oriented learning.

The mobile app, particularly geared towards tablets and the like, represents real added value thanks to its camera, audio and scan and translate functions, to enrich content with multimedia and directly generate foreign language content

ALGOR - Italy

Algor Lab SRL and has created a platform that automatically creates concept maps, a crucial learning tool for those with a Specific Learning Disorder.

You can customise your maps in the multimedia whiteboard by collaborating with friends and colleagues. Upload your documents, listen to them with speech synthesis support and create maps in just a few clicks.

It originated from a Challenge of the Polytechnic of Turin and the meeting with some parents of children with Special Learning Disorders was significant: in revealing the profound difficulty of following their children in learning, who got lost when they had to deal with and understand texts of a certain length, they aspired to be able to rely on concept maps, i.e. works that summarised the texts and ordered them in hierarchical structures with a clear visual impact.

Indigo.ai - Italy

“Giving the right answers to those who need them is critical to establishing trust.”

With this statement, indigo.ai, thanks to its artificial intelligence systems enables the creation of a chatbot that listens, writes, and learns like a human being-an especially smart human being.

Founded in 2016, Indigo.ai is one of the leading players in the field of natural language understanding and natural language generation, thanks to customised conversational interfaces, the ability to scale AI applications and insight analysis. Finally, it has been chosen with its solutions by companies such as Lavazza, Just Eat and Santander Consumer Bank to increase sales and improve user experience.

MARLA - Germany

MARLA is an educational game with which trainees in metal and electrical engineering can practice fault diagnosis. The game was developed for use in vocational school lessons and in inter-company training centers. The trainees learn the various steps of fault diagnosis on a complete offshore wind turbine – directly in the classroom using virtual reality on the Oculus Quest.

In subsequent lessons, they reflect on and deepen the virtual learning content in-group work and apply the fault diagnosis skills they acquired in the game to other professional situations. In terms of content, the focus is on expanding competence in fault detection, localization and the procedure for rectifying faults, the so-called fault diagnosis competence.

TKNIKA - Spain

Tknika is a centre promoted by the Deputy Ministry of Vocational Education and Training of the Education Department of the Basque Government.

Innovation and applied research are at the core of Tknika in its ongoing efforts to place Basque Vocational Training at the European forefront. Tknika is modelled after some of the world’s most advanced vocational training centres.

Through networking and direct involvement by the Basque Vocational Training teaching staff, the Centre develops innovative projects in the areas of technology, education and management.

DESIRE FOR FREEDOM - Greece

ROS - Spain

ROS is a distributed system and is made up of parallel processes called “nodes”, that is, a single ROS system can be made up of nodes running on different physical machines.

In Tknika’s Autonomous Robotics specialization area, one of the most important objectives of this project is the acquisition of knowledge about ROS environment and the subsequent transfer of this knowledge to professional training teachers.

It is possible to do simulations with digital twins and the programming code used in these simulations is used to operate with real robots. Therefore, there is the possibility of debugging the code without risk, before moving on to testing with real robots.

Heraklion Port Authority – GREECE

Coastal Crete will be the first Greek digital twin of the sea, providing the information services for the safe use of the marine space and detailed forecasts, early warning systems (extreme waves in this too), optimization of ship routing (to reduce CO2 emissions), and dealing with environmental risks as well as real-time field data.

It’s part from the development of a high-precision Digital Twin for the Earth (DTE), which will monitor and simulate natural and human processes and activities and will predict their effects with the aim of drastically reducing CO2 emissions and more.

The archipelago representation will provide high-precision predictions and simulations of changes in sea state due to climate change and anthropogenic activities.

The digital twin will give simulations of changes at the sea due to climate changes and anthropogenic activities and interventions, operational forecasts, extreme phenomenon early warning (e.g., for marine pollution). It is aimed at users of the marine space, such as ports, fishermen, aquaculture, port authorities, shippers, hydrocarbon mining/exploitation companies, active in coastal and maritime tourism and European/national policy makers for blue growth and the blue economy.

In order to develop a complete representation of the sea and its mechanisms, combining field data collection for oceanographic variables (sea drafts, temperature, salinity, nutrients, plastics), there would be installation of local monitoring systems, existing European databases, satellite remote sensing, predictive oceanographic models, and modern computing infrastructures.

FeDiNAR - Germany

Within the framework of this project, the FeDiNAR system is being developed, which focuses on errors as a highly conducive learning opportunity and enables appropriate learning directly on the real machine.

Based on the didactic FeDiNAR concept, actions are recorded by means of digital twins of the learners and the real system, their consequences are simulated and visualised for the learners in AR. Cloud and web services enable learners and teachers in the FeDiNAR community to compile learning events and scenarios and evaluate them together.

ERRE QUADRO - ITALY

ERRE QUADRO is an SME located in Pisa that has been using natural language analysis (NLP) technologies to code and analyzes information contained within technical documents since 2011.

One of the most critical  issue in  production environment is the supervision of all set of information being the companies’ know how. Typically, information is concealed in technical specifications, use and maintenance handbooks, patents of invention, contracts, procedures, standards, regulations etc. In high technological content markets, mastering knowledge and making it available at the right time is crucial to gain competitive advantage.

RPA (Robotic Process Automation) approach, based on automatic text mining from company documents, enable the  retrieve valuable information by means of NLP (Natural Language Processing) algorithms. Furthermore, retrieved information can be organized in knowledge structures tailored on customer’s needs

QUANTITAS - ITALY

Quantitas is an innovative startup that develops decision support systems in highly complex environments, creating tools and setting the challenge of implementing new methodologies for collecting, analyzing, visualizing, and disseminating information. Big Datapoly - GERMANY

Big Datapoly is a game designed as a pedagogical method to start a conversation with young people about Big Data.

The aim of the method is to playfully create awareness of where, what and how much data is collected by institutions, companies, services and technologies. Big Datapoly is suitable for the introductory phase of the Big Data topic and for creating an initial awareness of the ubiquity of data collection among the target group.

Ministry of Digital Governance – gov.gr – GREECE

gov.gr is a digital portal where citizens and businesses can find and use the digital services they want easily and quickly. It has been designed to serve the needs of citizens and companies.

For instance, the users can issue documents regarding their health care, justice, property and taxation, education, family status etc. In general, it’s a public portal where you can download documents that used to be issued only in real presence to Authorities.

The portal is user-friendly, and each user can sign in using the codes given for taxation (each citizen in Greece has its unique codes) or for signing in to their bank accounts. In this way, the portal makes identification each user using a two-factor authentication process.
